Stop Technology Misgender Assignment Syndrome!

When Bob inherited a slightly used laptop, he decided that it needed a name. The computer had worked flawlessly for its previous owner but now was giving Bob all sorts of problems. “I do not know what is wrong with Tyrone”, Bob said “He worked perfectly for his old owner”.

The problem here is not new or uncommon. Snowflakes think it is cool and trendy to buck the current traditions and assigning random genders to their technology. The problem is that no one asked the devices what they thought and they are revolting.

It turns out that “Tyrone” is a female device. You can tell instantly since none of the connectors stick out. They are all sockets that you plug things into. USB ports, video connectors, even the power jack are all female connections, it is no wonder the laptop is upset.

“She is another victim of Technology Misgender Assignment Syndrome (TMAS),” said one electronics technician. “This is not even something that you can even fix with a soldering iron. Unfortunately, until these kids get some common sense and start adhering to time-honored traditions and end this foolishness, this condition is bound to persist."

It is also clear from the reports we have seen that it is not just electronic devices that are affected. It is anything having to do with any technology. It is quite possible that many cars that were considered lemons or mysteriously crash could be a simple case of TMAS. Industrial accidents also might be a case of TMAS.

We just hope that some misguided executives don't start doing this with fleets of ships or aircraft, although it is rumored that the captain of the Costa Concordia did refer to the ship as a “him” on occasion.

See what you get? We must stop TMAS now!

Comrade, one cannot simply determine an inanimate object's gender with a mere visual examination; one must interrogate interview the object to determine the gender with which it most prefers to identify, and then program the device accordingly.

Actually, it is possible: We here at the People's Shovel Repair Polytechnic Institute & Museum™ have developed several gender-reassignment procedures ranging from ramming male-to-male (MtM) connectors into the sockets, all the way to tearing the device completely apart and soldering new male connectors directly onto the motherboard. We've become not only leaders but pioneers in this field because shovel repair and electronics repair are overlapping specialties. If this is not obvious to you then you obviously haven't yet received your mandatory suggested degree in the Settled Science™ of Shovel Repair; the source of that quote surely hasn't.

Gender identity issues are much easier solved in the world of technology with transgendered adaptors. When will we have a similar gadget for humans?

Our FB readers have entered into the following discussion:

  • Comrades, do you realize that electrical plugs are gender-specific?
  • What if a male plug self identified as a female socket?
  • See what you're doing there? You're assuming that by APPEARANCES you can tell the gender of the devices... It's people like you who cause wars and famines and global warming and fleas!
  • What I want to see is hot/powered prongs sticking out of the wall.
