The People's Cube World Championship?

User avatar
Hundreds of competitors didn't get the memo? Or is it the usual media lie from Fox News?

BUDAPEST, Hungary — After 25 years, the cube is coming home.

Hundreds of competitors are meeting for the fourth Rubik's Cube world championship Friday in the Hungarian capital, which hosted the first such event in 1982. The mechanical puzzle invented by Hungarian Erno Rubik sparked a global craze in the early 1980s. Some 7 million cubes were sold last year. Competitors from 32 countries will take part in the three-day event, with prizes to be awarded in 17 categories, with experts trying to solve the classic 3x3 cube and its variations while blindfolded, with one hand, or with their feet. The current world record for solving the 3x3 cube — which has six sides of a different color with nine tiles on each side — is 9.86 seconds by Thibaut Jacquinot of France, set in May at the Spanish Open.

How many more lies must we take before the world realizes that there has never been a Rubik's Cube, there has always been the People's Cube, red on all sides, guaranteeing correct and predictable outcome to every player?

We will show the superiority of The Cube by winning the championship without even doing a thing.

Hah! If I were of such vermin who believed in competing, then I would surely be laughing at that 9.86 seconds! Even a pup such as I with 4 left paws can solve an infinite number of the Peoples Cube in that span of time.

Comrade Red Square, how can we be sure this was a 'fair'tm contest. Were all the cubes in the same configuration! How can there be equality of results? Were there any KKKapitalist cubes there? How were the Progressive Cubes represented.... The spirit of the great cube revolution must be spinning in his/her/its grave.... This travesty is too great WE MUST ACT against this agression of non mutually assured equality of results.......

Now back to my Vodka..

<img align=left hspace=5 src=https://thepeoplescube.com/images/Cube_ ... nds_sm.gif> I guess the point of your comment, Comrade LoneRedStar, is that we should have sent our representative to the contest with our own version of the Cube (which is the only true Cube) - and won all the prizes!

And if they were to deny such participation we could partner with the ACLU and file a humongous discrimination class action suit against Rubik's company, Rubik's competitions, and the very concept of different colors on the cube. We would drive them out of business and out of existence itself! In a few years the world will forget there even was any other cube.

Isn't this how we ensure the steady advancement of progress anyway, and isn't this the only purpose for the existence of the ACLU?

Next time they have such a contest we must come there with our red People's Cube and VIDEOTAPE everything that transpires.

YOU HEAR THAT, RUBIK???? WE WILL BURY YOU!!!!!!!!!

I have the urge to continue solving it! AH!!! MORE THOUGHT-CRIMES!!!!

I always wanted one of those, but could never find one in a store. I mean... I always wanted to steal one of them for the use in... um... sacrificial... things... and burning it in tribute to the great Lenin and Queen Hillary.

User avatar
Dear Lenin! I can't believe I had to see such a vile thing this early in the morning! Take it away Dear Leader! My eyes can only bear so much Thought Crime in the morning.

Oh, that wicked, evil Rubik's Cube! I remember well when it was first pushed on the American public . . . "sold" if you will. People were dazzled by all the pretty colors, and the great sense of achievement and superiority it promised.

At first it was popular. Many people were for it. Many thought it was a great idea, looking at it and thinking it would be easy to conquer, that victory would be swift and in no time they could proclaim "Mission Accomplished!"

But as they picked up this evil Rubik's Cube and got into it, they found that all was not as it seemed, and before they knew it, they were stuck in a quagmire with no clear exit strategy.

Those who knew the Rubik's Cube was trouble to begin with advised the Rubikmongers to stop. To drop it! To just leave it and walk away from it, run for their pathetic lives if they could! But no, the Rubikmongers insisted on staying the course. They remained stubbornly convinced there was a way to solve it, and even accused those who advised them otherwise that they were quitters, white flag wavers, and even traitors!

That damned thing with all those pretty colors proved to be a curse on society. It caused brawls, decreased production in the collectives, broke up sex-based relationships, and drove masses to drink less because they couldn't, nay wouldn't give up their blind, slavish, single-minded devotion to this horrible thing and all it represented.

And what does the Rubik's Cube represent? Why, none other than George W. Bush!

User avatar
Well, I can at least say with some self righteous pride that even back then, before I had become Party aware, I instinctively knew to flee from that evil cube and it's imperialist colors intended to cause confusion and cube envy.

User avatar
You're quite right, Pinkie. Rubik's Cube is divisive - just like Bush is divisive. It divides the society on those who can solve it (which we know is a myth anyway) and those who can't solve it (minorities and the Democrats who support them).

The People's Cube, on the other hand, is a uniter. Just like Hillary is a uniter, not a divider. We need to draft the People's Cube for President!<h3>The People's Cube for President '08!</h3>
And I loved your comparison of solving the Cube with the quagmire in Iraq and the Middle East in general. We should just drop it and get out because as we know nobody has ever been able to solve that puzzle. But it will be resolved as soon as we paint that entire region red.

The best practical solution to all world's problems and puzzles is to paint the world red. Just like the Cube.

What?!? What?!? Great Stalin's Ghost! And just where would that leave our Empress? While the People's Cube is truly one of the greatest, if not the single greatest invention of all time... Do you suggest Her Highness should share her power? I am so confused!

User avatar
Plus the MTE could throw the peoples cube (her VP)at her enemys and vanquish them in her site like the holy hand grenade of antioch.......

it would be something like this.....".And Our Many titted empress raised the peoples cube up on high, saying, "O great Goreman, bless this Thy cube that with it Thou mayest blow Thine enemies to tiny bits, in Thy mercy." And the Algore did grin and the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths and carp and anchovies and orangutans and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats and large chu..... And the Algore spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy peoples cube of the great revolution towards thy foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it." Amen.

Now let make sure we have this straight Red. Are you suggesting that Hillary should settle for vice president?

Umm...Red Square, don't say the VP thing too loudly to Hillary...she might throw a People's Cube right to the place of pain. May want to re-write what you said before she sends you to the Gulag for a thought crime...and we don't want to lose you over a typo, right?
