User avatar
Danylo Yavhusishyn is a Ukrainian sumo wrestler who goes by the Japanese name, Aonishiki Arata. At age 21, he became the 8th non-Japanese sumo wrestler in history to win the Emperor's Cup. He has also been promoted to the rank of ozeki which is the second highest rank attainable in sumo.

Here's some more from Denys Davydov:

So what's Aonishiki Arata's next move?

Well, at least he's not identifying as female to body-slam some Sumo women.

Still, that loincloth should've been yellow-and-blue. And I didn’t hear a single “Slava Ukraini!” in Japanese. Sad.*

---------------
* Sum (pronounced as soom) in Ukrainian means "sadness." So sumo doesn’t sound like a barrel of laughs.

Sorry, I posted a picture of the wrong bout. Here's the shot of the championship round.

My Japanese Sumo name is Agata Ichisaki

Google says that's Japanese for "My brain is soaked in sake."
