We REALLY Need a Hero: Indecision 2008

POLL: Who would make a great running mate for Cobra Commander?

You may select 1 option

User avatar
This years presidential election has proven to be one of the most heated of our time. All three of the main candidates have been viciously competing for the votes of the people almost to the point where viewers would rather tune in Desperate Housewives than Desperate Politicians. And despite all the CW drama and political mud-slinging, the candidates we're presented with are not the best on the block. Come this November, we'll be forced to choose between an angry white guy from Arizona, a junior high school senator from Illinois, and a crybaby from New York suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome brought on by her trip to Bosnia in 1996.

I mean, where have all the good candidates gone and where is all the good? Where is the street-wise Ronald Reagan to fight the rising odds? Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed? Late at night, the American people toss and they turn while they dream of what they need!

Well, the wait is over! A new candidate has arisen from the ashes of what was once the pride in American politics! A man of passion, endless creativity, and fiery rhetoric in the form of yelling and no I'm not referring to Howard Dean. He is a man of revolutionary change combined with decades of dynamic leadership. Nothing can stand against him! I am referring to none other than...

*drum roll*

COBRA COMMANDER!!

ResoluteCobraCommanderPosed.jpg

With so few decent candidates left,Cobra Commander is the only logical choice. His vision for brutally efficient government reform is precisely what we need to drain the Washington Beltway cesspool of corruption. Everyone who has wished we could ship all politicians to gulags in Antarctica can now make that dream come true with a vote for Cobra Commander! (Lawyers shipped separately) Who needs three branches of government when you can easily consolidate it into one man? There's hardly a need to balance the powers of government when you simply remove the scale.

Compulsory service in the military will be required, allowing more teenagers to not only drive nuclear-powered vehicles and drop high-ordinance explosives on remote villages but to see the world's great discoveries before leveling them to be turned into golf courses and Wal-Marts! Conscripts will be allowed to choose between great programs such as the Crimson Guard, Cobra Vipers, and the Postal Service (firearms training required).

While Cobra Commander believes the US should rule the world, thereby nullifying national boundaries, securing our current borders in the meantime is paramount. Cobra Commander's solution is simple; land mines and coin-fed machine guns for tourists!

Cobra Commander believes the domestic front is important too, especially with the startling decline in patriotic values. Citizens will be required to submit their loyalty to the state via daily pledges of allegiance at their local institutions of education. Loyal citizens will be rewarded with personal sidearms in the event they encounter what Stormtroopers refer to as “rebel scum.” Who needs the first amendment when exercising the 2nd is so much more fun? Pledges for pistols!!

With over $400 billion in spending on the Iraq War (and an unknown amount on G.I. Joe) Cobra Commander believes it is time to bring these heroes home and deploy them where they belong; in your homes and on every street corner. Such pork barrel expenditures could easily be spent on more humanitarian projects such as perfecting the Weather Dominator (ever tried golfing in the rain?), and human cloning to subsidize the troop surge needed to invade San Francisco (damn rebels!). Since COBRA already developed (not quite perfected) the technology, it would be a shame to waste it.

The choice this November is simple; you can vote for a mainstream candidate and go through the slow, boring political process of back and forth law making, or you can vote for the one person who will create laws when he feels like it and they will be so! I urge all of you to vote for Cobra Commander this year for President and together we can witness his awesomeness!

Heil Cobra!!!

April Fools, although with our current selection of presidential candidates, such fictional characters do seem a little appealing.

Weird...

We've been working on this article for weeks and had no idea someone else was doing it. Damn, we don't even get G4 out here so I had no clue.

User avatar
What do you mean, April Fools? I have already collected quite a large contribution for Comrade Cobra.

User avatar
But every bit counts towards the common good does it not comrade?

User avatar
Well it certainly helps me...I mean when I deliver the contributions to the proper account.

User avatar
Should I just turn you all in now for HERESY AGAINST HILLARY or do you want me to wait a few days so that you can say goodbye to loved ones?

User avatar
What will Hillary do, huh? We have a WEATHER DOMINATOR!!!! Let's see her do anything while she's getting zapped by lightning, swept away by floods, and fed to mutant radioactive chimpanzees!

COBRAAAAAAALALALALAALALALALALALALALALALALALALAAAAA!!11!one!!

(I know, it is pretty weird when you come up with an awesome idea and someone has already done it. My friend had the same experience with this song. He came up with parts of it only to hear it on the radio the next day.

I am currently writing a speech for my 10th grade speech class about some gay book called Give a Boy a Gun, its supposed to be in support of the book, but i decided id sort of change things up a bit on my uber liberal teacher, and go against the anti-gun message of the book. Suggestions would be great if anyone has any after reading what i got.

this is what i have so far in the form of an outline:

I. Introduction
Attention Getting Device: “A lie told often enough, becomes truth.” This quote, from the infamous Soviet leader and revolutionary Vladimir Lenin, is really the only way to describe this book.
Significance: The reason I would like to draw you attention to this poorly written piece of garbage, and the “author” who wrote it, is so that if you ever decide to read it, you wont get tangled up in the elaborate web of lies, skewed facts, and half truths that make up this book.
Thesis: During this speech I will give you some information about Todd Strasser (the cunning liar who wrote this book, the book itself (Give a Boy a Gun),and what I think of the book.
Transition: I will start by sharing with you some background information about the snake who fabricated this “wonderfully enlightened piece of literature”, Todd Strasser.
II. Body
A. Author Background
1. New York City
2. Liberal (Socialist)
3. Manipulator
Transition: Now that I have covered all the information you need to know about the author, I will read you some of what he wrote.
B. Literature
1. Biased at best
2. “Final Thoughts”
3. Skewed Facts
Transition: Now that you have been read some of this biased crap, you can hear what I actually think about.
C. Opinion/Reasons
1. Low (manipulating)
2. Blatant Lies
3. Written to push his political agenda
4. Too preachy
5. Misinformation
III. Conclusion
A. Review:
1. Author Info
2. Literature
3. My Opinion
B. Concluding Statement: In conclusion I would like to emphasize how low it was for this Starbucks slurping liberal from New York to manipulate our sorrow over the shooting at Columbine and our parents greatest fears in order to sell books and push his unconstitutional political agenda. What this book “inspired” me to do was to nail this book to a fence, go out and purchase an AR-15 (the gun he constantly preached against through out the book), and then use the book as a target of sorts to improve my skill with my newly acquired deadly semi-automatic “assault” style rifle. By the way, if anyone needs a lesson on morale values from a man who believes in abortion and justifies the reasoning of psychopathic killers, I highly recommend this book.

User avatar
I think I've heard of that book, but fortunately never had to read it. I always liked mocking the teacher in essays despite never liking homework. Can you give us a bit more background on the book? All I'll probably find on the internet is a bunch of stuff about how great the book is and stuff.

User avatar
You think having to read that book was bad!? Shit, I had to read Jimmy Carter's "Our Endangered Values" and had to do a book report on the trash (which now serves as puppy-pads for my little dachshund).

The typical book report for that class is 3 pages... mine was eleven, Comrades. Yes, eleven pages of a pure Punchenko rant.

Now then..."The Seven Myths of Gun Control" by Richard Poe is all you need, Comrade Drago.

Find that book... buy it... read it... and then use it accordingly to ravage your idiot Commie "educator" with some hard truth. ENJOY!

User avatar
hookay here the deal the author uses columbine and other school shootings to push his political agenda, and suggests at the end that we ban all semi-automatic weapons, and handguns. This is not all however, the author pulls a method right out of michael moore's playbook, backing up his liberal crap with skewed statistics, and he compares statistics that are entirely irrelivant, completely ommiting the other side of the story (like time magazine and newsweek which we also must read). plus this commie author even lived on a commune for most of his life.

on a happier not i will not have to present my speech 2moro due to a school sponsored diversity assembly in which we get to watch people in wheel chairs do ballet.

btw: i just ordered that book you told me to get online with rush delivery, and i will ravage her with the hard truth you speak of.

User avatar
i gotta get some sleep now, but 2moro i will type up some of my "favorite" parts of the book.

User avatar
Ah, yes. Good 'ol Columbine. I have such fond memories of teachers flipping out when that happened and exploding at us when we pretended to be soldiers on the playground. Don't forget to mention that both of them were wacked out by the drugs that the school prescribed to them and that the weapons they acquired were acquired ILLEGALLY and making all guns illegal wouldn't have made any difference at all.

Don't forget to use that statistic about doctors killing more people in this country than guns. I forget where you can find it, but I know it's out there. You might be able to find some reports about crime rates in countries that have outlawed guns is a bazillion times higher than countries that didn't. And that the cities in America that have banned guns have much higher crime rates than those that didn't.

And if all else fails, you can put a loaded gun in her hand and beat her to death with her own computer monitor and see what she does. Wait, did I just say that out loud?

Hopefully AK hears of this. I'm sure he has a lot to say about this topic....

User avatar
This would make sense, because anyone who is prepared to go on murderous rampage would not (i think) concern himself with obtaining the proper liscenseing and registration in order to purchase said weapon illegaly, plus youths can not buy weapons without their parents permission. In addition, anyone trying to commit a murder and not get caught would certianly not buy the gun legaly, because it would be registered and this would leave the "pigs" right to his front door. The author also tries to convince the reader that possessing a gun changes ones thought process, and can actually make them want to kill some one.

as far as the arming of the teacher goes, i have no gun small enough to conceal long enough to give to her, but the whole monitor beating idea is entirely possible.

User avatar
Yes, I have no doubt possessing a gun can change one's thought process.... from "I am going to die" to "I am going to take this mf out if I get the chance."

I don't know about Columbine as it is minors after all, but looking at Virginia Tech, I feel that carrying a weapon, in open sight if one desires, is a good thing. I guarantee you one thing, if college students and professors were able to carry a gun, there would have still been students killed in the guy's attack, but he would not have killed as many.

I do not own a gun (though I am planning on buying one should Hillary or Obama win - er... just so I can help with the revolution), but I believe adults that can pass a gun safety course, should be allowed to carry weapons and do so openly or concealed. I prefer openly... you don't see as much crime when the bad guy can see citizens with guns on their hip.

Comrade Drago,

Go to the references (page 21). This will hopefully lead you to more info...Liberals are all about information and statistics. This has Canadian info, but it also has info about American gun ownership.

https://www.sfu.ca/~mauser/papers/selfd ... 8-3-99.pdf

Premier Betty, is this the article?

Of course, whenever gun ownership rights are debated, anti-gun activists like to point out that about 30,000 people are killed by guns in America every year -- although they seldom note that about 60 percent of those deaths are suicides, or that the firearm murder rate has dropped by 40 percent in the past 15 years, or that far more people are killed by motor vehicles or medical malpractice every year than are killed by guns.

And they never mention how many crimes have been prevented by citizens bearing arms.

Once again, that's a hard thing to quantify. One U.S. government survey in the 1990s estimated that more than 80,000 Americans a year used guns in an effort to protect themselves or their property against crime. Other estimates put the number far higher, at more than 2 million crimes prevented each year by the presence of privately-owned firearms.

But those are estimates and extrapolations – which means we can argue about the numbers all day long.

Still, this much is clear. When faced with a violent criminal in his house in the middle of the night, it would be hard to argue that that homeowner in Irvine would have been better off without a gun.

Oops! Sorry I got here late, Comrades! I really don't have anything to add at the moment - you guys are right on point so far. If you have any specific questions, Drago, or anyone else for that matter, please don't hesitate to ask them. I seem to be the resident "gun nut," so I'll do my best to provide you with the proper statistics and references for anything you need.

Try checking out the information on this site first - lots of good stuff:
keepandbeararms.com

And if you want some older, but aggregated stats, check here:<br>justfacts.com/guncontrol

Well, that's a start. Let me know what you need, and I'll be glad to help.

Thomas Jefferson wrote:The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves in all cases to which they think themselves competent..., or they may act by representatives, freely and equally chosen; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed; that they are entitled to freedom of person, freedom of religion, freedom of property, and freedom of the press." --Thomas Jefferson to John Cartwright, 1824.

ATTENTION COMRADES!

Richard Lawrence Poe in the above quote is the real Richard Poe who wrote "The Seven Myths of Gun Control." I happen to know Richard Poe personally and he is also a fan of the People's Cube. So last night when Chairman posted that quote about Richard's book I emailed the link to Richard and this morning he decided to post a thank-you note.

I have always supported Cobra Commander, who else could possibly lead this nation to world domination while ruling with an Iron Fist? Hillary and Obama are only precursors to the future revolution. Cobra IS the revolution! Why wait for the Democrats to slowly corrupt the country from the inside when it can be completely overthrown in ONE DAY?

You are very welcome, Enemy of the People Poe. And thank you for writing a wonderful hard-hitting book on our right to keep and bear arms – and when I say arms, I am of course referring to a prole'sright to keep and bear a shovel (one in good repair, of course).

hahaha i did my speech at school today, and my teacher flipped, it was hysterical, she pretty much cringed with each word that came from my mouth

User avatar
Ah high school.... I recall once in English class having to do some speech with demonstration. I can't recall exactly what mine was on other than it having something to do with the Beatles. But I assisted a friend in his presentation by demonstrating how to roll a doobie. Seriously. Of course that was before the imperialist led war on drugs.

User avatar
W007!!11!eleven Sounds like it went well, do you know what grade you got yet? If not, prepare for her to hate you for the rest of the year. That's what one of my teachers did when I gave Red the "Skools: An Insider's View of the Revolution" to be posted. She demanded that I show her what I was going to use the pictures for, so I told her the website. The next time I went in the classroom when she was there (I had transferred out of the class before the end of the year when she brought her delinquent slut daughter in to encourage her mom and everyone else to start doing drugs again) I got kicked out. When I snuck back in there when she was gone, all the stuff had been taken down. Then she got moved to another school because she couldn't get fired because of her tenure.

I've always had bad experiences with English classes. All throughout High school, all my eng. teachers were ex-hippies and liberal douches. Now I'm in college and I finally had a half-decent teacher my first semester (she lost points on my scale for not allowing me to sleep though class) and now I'm stuck with another hippie that's also one of these Jane Austen freaks. And of course, she's shoving Pride and Prejudice down our throats and making us write, like 3 essays about different stuff in the damn book. I can't wait until this semester is over.

(Pinkie off)

Hey, I'm one of those Jane Austen freaks and I love Pride and Prejudice.

Of course, it's a very girlie book, all relationships and does-he-like-me-or-does-he-like-like-me stuff. It doesn't require a joystick, nor are there lots of explosions or body parts flying everywhere.

I suspect your hippie Austenphile is one of those Progressive wackos trying to ease her guilt/justify her fondness for Austen by trying to find leftist feminist drivel in between the lines. I don't think it's there. I think Austen was merely observational and wrote for her own amusement and that of the masses--and that's why she's still so popular two centuries later.

User avatar
No, she isn't trying to find what isn't there, but she is having us read essays by raging feminists just because the book she worships doesn't have it. And I still don't like Jane Austen. I prefer this stuff.

Okay, I just signed Ms. GoForth (the bitch who kicked me out of her classroom) into that contest. She probably won't win, but I just wanted to put her up there.

User avatar
I can see you getting into Flashman, but not Jane Austen. She's girl stuff, and that's that.

User avatar
Icky girlie stuff. Me no like. It's infested with cooties!

I've read all the Flashman books (at least all the ones we have which are like, 14 or something) and they are good. And funny.

User avatar
No i would say she started to hate me on the 2nd week of school, when i presented my speech comparing Hilary Clinton (who she thinks walks on water) to Sauron from the lord of the rings, and Bill Clinton to Saruman (the dishonest, charismatic wizard). She couldnt possibly hate me any more.

User avatar
OMG JANE AUSTEN!!! My mom loves that crap, she has read all her books, and is now watching all the episodes of some series on her books which is on *cringe* the Peoples Bolshevik Staterunreeducationstation (PBS). I really hate it when she puts those on, all the plot consists of is at which location the stereotypically British charters should have tea and/or frolic.

User avatar
and by the way, my teacher listens to NPR during class if that helps describe her.

User avatar
Comrade Drago wrote:No i would say she started to hate me on the 2nd week of school, when i presented my speech comparing Hilary Clinton (who she thinks walks on water) to Sauron from the lord of the rings, and Bill Clinton to Saruman (the dishonest, charismatic wizard). Well, no wonder she hates you. She probably compares Saruman to William F. Buckley, and Bill Clinton to Aragorn.

User avatar
I would have loved to be there during that speech. It already sounds awesome. I'm not much of a LotR person, but hearing about that kinda makes me want to watch the movies all over again.

My teacher is constantly ripping all these movies and TV series about Austen books and ranting about how inaccurate they are and crap. She constantly obsesses over some version of Pride and Prejudice that aired in Britain in 1995 and supposedly shut down the entire country because everyone was watching it." She claimed that crime rates went down, accidents were less, and a bunch of other crap like that. Sounds like her idea of world peace would be to force everyone in the world to become Austen freaks so that they would spend their entire lives watching that damn show and conflict would cease all together.

NPR during class? She deserves the teacher of the year award.

User avatar
I know the version she's talking about, a 5-hour BBC miniseries with Colin Firth, which is the most faithful version of the book. It occasionally airs on A&E. I own the DVD. (I won't touch the more recent Keira Knightly version.)

Notwithstanding, it sounds as if your teacher has less of a life than I do.

User avatar
You sound just like her. STOP IT!!!! You're scaring me!!!

User avatar
What if I told you . . . I AM your teacher?

User avatar
No. NO. That's not true! That's impossible!!!!

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Besides, she's already admitted to being a hippie (or at least a useful idiot). No way would she be posting here.

User avatar
ROFLMAO! That's the very movie and scene I was thinking of with my last post.

Honestly, Betty, when you sit down and think about it, "Jane Austen freaks" aren't all that different from, say, Trekkies. They're basically harmless, and Austen freaks actually have one advantage over Trekkies--they're less likely to be dateless losers living in their mother's garage or basement.

Now be grateful I don't come to the Cube swooning over Mr. Darcy with every post I make. Oh, he's so hot the way he just stands there all the time, glaring in disapproval at everyone and everything. I'll bet I could get him to crack and show his teeth.

Still sure I'm not your teacher?

User avatar
Again we see the ugly head of senseless Star Trek envy raising it's ugly head, The usual suspects as well, comrades so in love with the hokey Star Wars movies they can not appreciate a work of art like Star Trek.

User avatar
"Star Trek envy" is an oxymoron, Pup. If you ever met my brother, you'd know what I mean.

User avatar
I have never understood the Star War's fan. The original movie was pretty boring, and most of the others were terrible. The second one was the only decent one. or whichever the one was with the scene above. It was the only really good scene in the whole series.

User avatar
Pup, that was The Empire Strikes Back, which I thought had the some of the dumbest dialogue. "Sir, I found them, repeat, I found them!" "Detach cable!" "Cable detached!"

I laugh every time.

You would be proud of my brother. When the original Star Wars came out, my father took me and my sisters to see it, while my brother refused to go because Star Trek was on that same night and he didn't want to miss it, even though it was an episode he'd seen a gazillion times already. Thirty years later my sisters and I still giggle over the woman in the row behind us, who at one point remarked to her date, "This is better than Space 1999!" (which my brother also watched quite religiously)

User avatar
Yes, I would be proud of your brother. I tell you, nothing irritated me more that C3P0, then there was the fact that the story was so old school, Good guy rescues damsel in distress from evil warlord.

I saw this tonight on the local news in Atlanta...The video I posted is not what I saw on the news tonight(Not on the site just yet). The video that was on the news tonight is exactly what Mr. Poe writes about in his book in regards to the prejudice by the media when it comes to guns(A perfect example...I wish I could post it). They interviewed three useless morons and all of them disagreed with the passing of this new bill( Georgia is a big step closer to allowing more people to carry guns in public places)....I know, what a shocker.

OFF CHARACTER
What's the problem with people carrying guns in public? I remember in Sturgis, you had tens of thousands of bikers, many of which no doubt had guns and were drinking, Crime other than typical "crimes" such as traffic violations and drunkenss was practically non existant, though there was one year they had a rather brazen bank robbery that the cops felt was not carried out by bikers, but rather by someone hoping the bikers would be blamed for. There was one nutcase who ended up being shot by police for.....breaking in a house and taking a ceremonial ninja sword and threatening the cops...

We must stop this crazy gun toting population immediately! Before the Empress is elected if possible!

More Expansive Gun Bill Passes
Posted By: Catherine Kim
Last Modified: 4/6/2008 12:35:01 AM

A controversial gun bill Republican sponsors called the most expansive and sweeping gun bill in the state's history passed the legislature, opening the door for Georgians to carry concealed weapons in more public places.

While they couldn't drink, licensed gun owners would be allowed to carry their guns inside many restaurants that serve alchol if more than half of the profits come from food.

The gun bill also allows carriers with conceal carry permits to bring their guns to state parks, historic sites, recreational and wildlife management areas, and on public transportation systems like Marta. It essentially makes those public places "gun zones."

"Obviously, there's a right to have it, but you know, just because somebody's authorized to carry one doesn't mean they should have one," said Dan Nguyn, who rides MARTA daily.

"The gun should be kept inside private homes. That's it," said MARTA commuter Kenneth Gaiter. "What are they hunting for? What are they trying to prove?"

Backed by the National Rifle Association, the bill overwhelming passed through both the House and Senate late Friday night.
The measure also allows employees to leave their guns in their cars at work if their bosses agree.

Republican bill sponsors say the bill is the most expansive, the most sweeping addition to gun owners' rights in Georgia's history.

"It gives them [law-abiding citizens] the right to defend themselves and their families when they are out in public, and we believe that is huge, huge issue," said Republican House Rep. Tim Bearden, bill sponsor of House Bill 89.

But some Democrats are calling it "deadly legislation" that lacks enforcement and accountability.

"And the problem is in Georgia that we don't require anything of people with concealed weapon permits. We don't require training. We don't require knowledge of firearms law. We don't require psychological evaluations," said Alice Johnson with Georgians for Gun Safety.

The bill also makes straw purchases of firearms a felony, and speeds up the process to renew gun permits.

The bill now heads to Governor Perdue for his signature.

Ha Ha! That's good, Sea-Bass, but I think my state's got 'ya beat...

Does a "collective rights" view of the Second Amendment breach Montana's contract for statehood?

This is in regards to District of Columbia v. Heller:

The Amicus Brief Essay wrote:When Montana entered into statehood and adopted the Compact as a part of the Montana Constitution of 1889[12], included was a provision guaranteeing the right to bear arms to "any person."[13]. The right to bear arms reservation was at Article III, Section 13 of the 1889 Montana Constitution. This was exactly the same language as used in the territorial Montana Constitution of 1884[14]. The language was unchanged in the revision and readoption of the Montana Constitution in 1972, with the RKBA provision being lodged at Article II, Section 12[15].

To be clear, the wording of the right to bear arms reservation in the Montana constitution is exactly the same today as it was in 1884, and as it was in 1889 upon adoption of the Compact. This reservation of right clearly and unambiguously contemplates an individual right for "any person," language that simply cannot be respun to somehow mean a right of state government. As the Montana Supreme Court has said, the individual rights reserved by the people to themselves in the Montana Constitution are specifically a direct bar to government actors. (St. v. Long, 216 M 65, 700 P2d 153, 42 St. Rep. 643 (1985)) This is contradictory to a theory that when the people of Montana reserved themselves this right they somehow meant to confer authority to government actors.

Militia Act of 1903 was the beginning of the National Guard and directed the federalization of the National Guard. "The National Defense Act of 1916 … transformed the militia from individual state forces into a Reserve Component of the U.S. Army - and made the term 'National Guard' mandatory".[16] Since the National Guard was not invented or authorized until after 1900, there could have been no understanding in 1889 that the purpose of the Second Amendment was to authorize the states to arm the National Guard.

...

There is no question that the contract into which Montana entered for statehood was predicated upon an understanding that the people of Montana would benefit from an individual and personal right to bear arms, protected from governmental interference by both the federal and Montana constitutions. That was the clear intent of the parties to the contract.

Therefore, any holding that the Second Amendment merely gives the power to the state to arm its National Guard would violate Montana's contract, because it would be in conflict with the intent of the parties of the contract at the time the parties entered into that contract.

In other words, If the Heller case being decided in the Supreme Court is ruled in favor of "collective rights," Montana's statehood - secured by contract - is breached. "Big Sky Country" will take on a whole new meaning.
