This day 1937: Golden Gate Bridge opens

"...creating a vital link between San Francisco and Marin County, California..." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Gate_Bridge or, in other words... connecting America's 'anatomical reference beginning with the letter 'P'' with its 'anatomical reference beginning with the letter 'S''

OK, Expel The Red States,

Ha! I see what you did there. Ha! Ha! Yeah, that's Twin "PeakS!" Right?

Here's something interesting for you to watch. It was filmed in San Francisco. Kind of haunting because you realize those you are watching are no longer with us.

This was taken just days before the SF Earthquake, so I am told.

Market Street! I'd never seen that video! Thanks, Pamalinsky. Very cool.

So glad you appreciate this glimpse into our past, Comrade Otis. If you go to YouTube itself, you can find many versions of this, including the aftermath of the earthquake. Not sure they are valid. I like this one because it's so raw, not edited.

I also noticed how each mode of transport, i.e., walking, riding a carriage, a horsie, streetcar (especially the sight-seeing one), automobiles, etc. Somehow they all managed to avoid collision and/or allow each other passage. No apparent regulations were in place here. People just knew what to do.

People cooperating with each other. Nice. (and having fun) It's so symbolic in so many ways. I'm sure you can figure them out.

Wouldn't it be interesting to have a camera available throughout history? I would love it!
