Comrade Colonel Ape

It appears that we will finally be getting those flying cars that The Party™ has been promising. Praise Stalin!

Flying cars have been around for decades, comrade, they just haven't been made "street legal" yet.

The 1961 Soviet Aeromotors' Bystroye Padeniye, which—unlike Soviet propaganda—didn't get much "air time" due to a propensity to jettison its fuel tank shortly after takeoff.

Fun fact: All the main German characters in Hogan’s Heros were played by Jewish actors.

A few more fun facts...

LeBeau (Robert Clary) also was Jewish.

Werner Klemperer (Col. Klink) was the son of conductor Otto Klemperer
and he was an accomplished violinist but faked being a terrible violinist in the show.

Unknown to the producers of the show until after the series had proceeded for awhile, there was a real stalag with a commandant matching the description of Col. Klink and there was a real Col. Hogan in that stalag.

As the series became popular, the budget grew enough to do some "location" episodes outside the stalag setting (but still in the studio lots).

There was practically no physical violence in the series until the final season (after Hollywood stopped following the old motion picture codes), the first incident being a Luftwaffe guard being gunned down by Gestapo troops.

I have had the pleasure of befriending one of the adult children of the late Larry Hovis (Corporal Carter, who was the first character to appear in the pilot episode, sneaking into Stalag 13 to replace another soldier).
