Sacramento, CA -- The Trade Organization Horse & Buggy Manufacturers (H&BM) is looking forward to a strong future as the California Air Resources Board (CARB) intends to ban sales of new gasoline-powered automobiles in the state, starting in 2035.  The H&BM represents the several buggy manufacturers still in existence in the US, which have primarily sold products to the Amish and "Old Order" Mennonite populations for the last 100+ years.

Trade representative Jedadiah Hershberger issued a statement on parchment for the press, "We are really looking forward to the huge market opening up once these new regulations are in place.  Our current market is 5-10 new sales per year, but the future is very bright.  There are roughly 39 million people in California.  Only about 10% of those fall into the electric vehicle category of 'rich enough to buy one and don't have very far to travel.'  Everyone else will be stuck walking or purchasing our most advanced technological wonder of sustainability: horses!"

He later expressed regret that the population of California is decreasing rapidly as people move away.  To quote Mr. Hershberger, "The industry's only concern is there won't be many people left in the state by 2035, which would seriously hamper sales.  The only ones left will be homeless drug addicts and billionaires.  Not our target market at all."

The hot air balloon market is boosting production for the California market, too.

Yeah, that state does produce a lot of hot air, doesn't it?

Anyone have a good meme for that feeling you get when you ban gasoline cars, then don't have enough electricity to power your 'green' vehicles?
