House (Mostly) Votes to Condemn Socialism

User avatar
On February 2, in a bipartisan vote, 328 members of the House passed H CON RES 9—a resolution to condemn socialism—with 86 Democrats voting against the resolution.

The resolution declares the U.S. was “founded on the belief in the sanctity of the individual, to which the collectivistic system of socialism in all of its forms is fundamentally and necessarily opposed.”

The text of the resolution notes that “many of the greatest crimes in history” were committed by socialist ideologues like Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, and Hugo Chavez, and that “Socialist ideology necessitates a concentration of power that has time and time again collapsed into Communist regimes, totalitarian rule, and brutal dictatorships.”

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) bravely stepped up to declare the resolution fraudulent and state that it would "undermine" House Democrats' agenda.

“They’ve called things like Social Security, socialism. Medicare: socialism. Extreme MAGA Republicans have called public education socialism, Medicaid, socialism. The Affordable Care Act. Socialism. The American Rescue Plan. Socialism,” Jeffries said.

Lol—most of those programs ARE socialism. But all that aside, the resolution reveals which of our Representatives are openly socialist (although not which of them are hiding behind a politically expedient "yea," "present." or no vote at all).

As might be expected, all "squad" members voted "nay."

This is shocking. This could be construed as a rejection of FDR's Second Bill of Rights.  If the government doesn't control our access to housing, healthcare, education, and employment, then who will?

What next? Are they going to criticize Wilson for moving us away from all that sentimental nonsense about liberty in the Declaration?  If we're not governed by the Darwinian Principle, then we might as well go back to the Middle Ages.

This overwhelmed me with nausea so quickly, I had to throw up in another comrade's ushanka.

Save that ushanka, Comrade: food prices being as they are, you may be able to sell it on the black market soon.

Well, there was some argument over ownership.  Can you believe it?  He thought it was his ushanka and that I had ruined it.  I told him, like he should have already known, it was the property of the People™.  Then he said, fine, that I could have it, but I heroically renounced my right to property in the name of Marx and handed it back to him.

And on the Left:

The talk It’s OK to be Angry About Capitalism coincides with the release of his book of the same name.

According to Marx, peace is the absence of opposition to socialism.

By this definition, the above vote is a declaration of war.

If war is what you want, war is what you'll get, Republican warmongers! You declared it first. Our shock squad is already mounting an offensive.

New rule: don't say that this war has been going for decades. All media articles, textbooks, and encyclopedias must be airbrushed to state that this war began with a Republican unprovoked attack on February 2, 2023.

Socialism is fine with personal property. It’s private property that cannot be allowed as it theft.

The beauty of this is it requires someone who has the power to tell everyone else what they can and what they can’t have and do.

You see, bakers (as one example) can have personal property but not the private property of their means of production because that leads to theft through oppression. This socialist principle is the very essence of the idea that people can “own” businesses as long as they do exactly what I think they should do.

The media described Trump voters as "angry" as a condemnation of the entire movement. "Angry white men," they said. Being angry was bad. Unless you're angry about capitalism. Obviously, it’s OK to be angry about capitalism.

Socialism is like a semiconductor, an ideological diode, a restrictor, which only allows a one-way current of ideas. Or a one-way turnstile on a subway, which only allows a one-way movement of people.

The simile works in every respect. You can vote socialism in, but not out (you have to fight your way out). People flee from socialist countries into capitalist ones but not vise versa (while socialism builds barbed wire fences and shoots bullets at those trying to escape).

Communism is socialism plus the electrocution of the entire country.

They'll never build enough windmills and solar panels to pull it off.

All 14 who placed a cowardly vote of "Present" (note: all have a "D" after their names) need to fish or shovel beets.
