Comrade Oliver Stone's Movie Gets No Respect in Venezuela

Comrades,
This is a travesty. Comrade Oliver Stone goes to the trouble of making a delightful film about two of our favorite Dear Leaders in this hemisphere, and Venezuelans poo poo it. The nerve! Why can't they appreciate the work of a true genius like Comrade Oliver? I am disgusted with the people of Venezuela for not showing appreciation for everything Comrade Hugo has done for them.

You have a military at your beck and call, a movie that praises you, and a populace that ISN'T going to it, hello!
(off)
Why do these people like Stone not live in Venezuela for a year or so? If after a couple of months to a year they still like it, fine, make a crappy movie about a monster, but if their views change because they had to live in these lands, why, that just might wake them up.
Oh pipe dreams, the fantasies that would shatter space-time if brought to reality.

Comrade Elliot, that's the problem with these posers. They never really live anywhere they happen to be. Their money insulates them from the true experience of the people. They can spend a year in any communist hellhole and never suffer the plight of the people. And if and when reality finally knocks on their door, they can afford to pack up and jet off to some new sunny clime.
Why are they so willing to promote an ideology that would surely strip them of their wealth and privilege? Because they're convinced they'll never have to actually endure it.
Perhaps if they were kidnapped off the street with only the clothes on their back and deposited in North Korea and forced to live like a peasant scratching out a meager living in the dirt, then they might have a new perspective.

On another note, I had mentioned this Stone's project about a year ago here, when it was still in its inane infancy. Now that it's reached its inane adulthood, let's see if how well my take on it has aged.
Red Square
... since anti-Americanism is incompatible with common sense that guides our daily lives, people must be reminded of it every day to keep it alive. That is the burden that radical intellectuals have taken upon themselves, dispensing daily quotas of leftist clichés to the "unwashed masses" down below. Thus, Oliver Stone is reportedly making a documentary about Hugo Chavez, whom he describes as an "energetic, principled champion of change in Latin America" and hopes, in Stone's words, to "capture the spirit of his drive to roll back U.S. influence." The ability to claim originality while working for decades from the same moth-eaten template makes Mr. Stone an Oscar-winning genius. Is there a chance that in the process of glorifying what he calls the region's "liberation from the United States," the legendary director might display authentic originality by interviewing, not a leftist, but a hero of anti-Marxist resistance? Can the devastation inflicted on Latin America by socialist policies persuade Mr. Stone to look beyond the worn-out clichés? We can only wish.
If the convention requires this "unconventional" genius to lionize America's enemies, it's what he does - not more and not less. Until recently, Stone was rumored to be considering a similar anti-American documentary with the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, but the recent insurgency against this man in his own country may have convinced Stone to kill the plan as too obviously absurd.
In the heyday of the Cold War, both knowingly and unknowingly, such radical intellectuals served as a reliable conduit for anti-U.S. propaganda generated in the think tanks of Moscow. The technical details were described by a number of defectors from the Eastern Bloc intelligence agencies...
Turns out, the Venezuelans aren't buying anti-Americanism. Literally. Which only proves my earlier point that anti-Americanism is not a natural phenomenon, but rather an artificially grown and disseminated "virus."

Speaking of these fine and wonderful fierce anti-American leaders . . .

As you may have heard, Comrade Zero lent two billion taxpayer funded dollars to Petrobras, the state owned oil company of Brazil to drill offshore of Brazil's coast. What many people don't know is that before this money was loaned, Petrobras, made plans to drill off the coast of Cuba in partnership with Comrade Fidel, and I wonder if the two billion that Comrade Zero funded to Petrobras was a way for him to funnel money to his favorite Caribbean friend. After all, this is the Chicago way, isn't it?
In the meantime, Petrobras made a profit of 15 billion (which made George Soros richer).

Not only Soros but a gaggle of Obama cronies and criminal associates. Rumor has it that Rahm Emanuel will be leaving the regime this Fall. Now Obama's economic Czar is jumping ship too. I bet they both end up working in one of the many shell organizations collectively known as the "Green Energy sector" (Tides Foundation, GE, Shore Bank, Center for Progress, et al). The rats have rode this jackass President as far as he'll carry them and now they wanna cash in on the Green racket they manufactured.

Maybe dear Leader needs to have a heart to heart intervention session with all comrades? We could call it a Beer Summit.

Maybe Ollie can form a film commune, and gather enough funds to do his next film. Even Hollywood backers won't fund him now.He can call it "Spawn of Spahn Ranch II".

Petrobras is not entirely state-owned. As a matter of fact, us peons here in the US may buy shares of it as it has ADRs (American Depository Receipts = foreign company shares owned by a US bank which it then packages and sells to US investors) which trade on the NYSE. Of course, the Brazillian gov't owns a controlling interest in PBR which means we bitter clingers get to invest our money for the greater good of Lulu and George Soros! Yay!

Perhaps they can start their commune on the land of some abandoned commune where the inhabitants who once lived there dreamed of having a little Cuba. I wonder what they have spawned, themselves? Could it be . . .?

Just think. Al Gore will be able to buy himself a little getaway for he and the lovely Laurie David. Oh, the things that money can buy!

Hold on, the Red Phone is ringing.
"Hello, yeah I know, isn't it great."
"The bidders are lining up around the block and the Russian's are drooling."
"Well, I thought we might start moving the first rigs around the 4th of July."
"At ten million a pop we'll make about $300 million."
"You too, have a good one my friend."
I'm back. There is no sacrifice too great. We've all got to do our part for Mother Gaia, the Common Good and the Children.

I was writing as an assumption they were at the same level as everyone else, just as they preach. You are right though, all they have to do is just have enough money to bolt at a moment's notice when the government comes knocking at the door.

I was listening to the radio Monday night (approximately 0100 CST), and I heard the Taliban and Al-Queda are receiving about 4 million of OUR TAX DOLLARS so they don't attack supply convoys to the US troops. Thoughts, feelings everyone? I'll try to find the story.

I have heard this Comrade Elliot. Apparently our private contractors, with the blessing of our Ambassador and the State Dept. have been paying bribes to the Taliban for safe passage for their convoys. This is one of the many gripes of McChrystal since the money is surely used to buy weapons which are them used to kill US troops.

PLTarian
Is the world just too small, or what? I read that our Russian Comrades are also purchasing oil leases from Fidel. Oh, joy! Soon they will be drilling closer to Key West than the Deepwater Horizon is to Louisiana, practically! Wonder why nobody's really talking about that very much. Hm. Maybe I read it wrong. One would think that would be Very Important News, environmentally speaking & whatnot . . . not to mention that communication by smoke signals will be almost as fast as the future-ex-Internet, once we're all so CLOSE. Isn't it glorious?!!! We'll all be one big happy family here in hurricane land. Maybe we can have a beet barbecue sometime! Yes, this is VERY exciting! I can hardly wait!Comrade PLTarian,
I think that once an oil company is nationalized, it becomes a harmless, lovable little fuzzball, and no long an evil capitalist producer of pollution.
As for Dear Leader, he once said this: "Cuba, Iran, Venezuela, these are tiny countries. They are no threat to us." But I think Dear Leader secretly likes them because their leaders hate Amerikans as much as Dear Leader and all good made progressive here at the Cube do.
