up to $18 billion to crush brand new cars (yes, literally crush them - SUVs and trucks)

Back when I was a kid I read a Heinlein short story that included this very thing. The government buying cars from the factory and crushing them. Little did I think, as a Young Pioneer, that we would see such a thing actually come to pass. (sniff) These are heady days, comrades.

User avatar
Comrade Strangelove, I'm so relieved, thanks for posting these figures. The way people have been talking, I thought all of the money was going to be wasted!

Comrade Grigori,

To help you better understand the Obamessiah's plan to salvage the failing US auto industry, I have prepared these two short videos. Enjoy!

User avatar
Comrade7.62 wrote:Didn't MacGyver escape from a car crusher while rescuing secret missile launch codes?

Yes, while only using a paper clip, some chewing gum, and a shoestring (like in all of the other episodes).

User avatar
Image I once did a study about a Gun crusher that was bought by some county out in New York. Supposedly, it was bought to make things easier for the county economy, who previously had to drive the seized guns to another scrapping site.

I did some math, using then-current scrap prices and the reports of guns seized by that county. This money-saving scrapping measure couldn't even cover the overhead costs, much less provide a good ROI.

But, damn, it made for some OK PR!

I liked the crusher in James Bond "Goldfinger". Crushed the car into a nice small cube that fit in the back of a pick-up truck. Keyword there is "Cube". Maybe an opportunity for franchise? Could set it up with the Drive-Through Lobotomy. Drive through, walk home and you won't care. The perfect Party Member.

$18 Billion
So we're going to crush new cars and trucks to help out the auto industry? Just the ones the dealers don't sell or right of the assemby line? I guess either way it works.

We'll be crushing the gas-guzzling, high-carbon emitting SUVs and large trucks. The proles won't be given the choice of what to drive since we all know that they can't be trusted to care for themselves let alone the planet. Besides, after we destroy the capitalist, socially unjust economy, they won't have any money to buy them with anyway. Some might call it overkill, but we call it Hope and Change You Will Believe In.TM

Comrade Strangelove-

Will you give a link for the pork prices at the bottom of your post? Trying to convince a European Socialist is difficult if she doesn't believe in the wisdom of The Cube. Thanks.

There is a copy of the list here: Generational Theft Act (Porkapalooza Bill) Update #6

However, the link is to a blog, so it's not authoritative.

Actually, I suspected that this list was a joke or parody based on the "frisbee (disk) golf course" and "butterfly gardens" but decided to use it without too much thought given that this is a satire web site. As it turns out, the Senate and/or House versions of the bill currently outlaw the use of funds for golf courses and public parks (as we know, that can easily be changed at the last minute or ignored altogether). The disk golf course and butterfly gardens are from proposals made by The US Conference of Mayors for their cities that is part of a big wish list, not specifically in the two versions of the bill.

Stimulus Brings Out City Wish Lists: Neon for Vegas, Harleys for Shreveport

The US Conference of Mayors: "Ready To Go" Jobs and Infrastructure Projects (This is the actual "report.")

Tell this European commissarka to read through all 680 pages of the House version and all 759 pages of the Senate "compromise" of the bill to find out for herself:

"American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009"
US House of Representatives Version (H.R. 1)
US Senate Version (S. 336)
US Senate "Compromise" (Amended H.R. 1)

However, I assume that her doubt stems from it all seeming too good to be true. After all, everything on the list is sure to delight the most stalwart socialist!

User avatar
Image Thanks! Like the unrepentant capitalist swine I am, I might just have to scour each line after the final version passes so I can invest in the companies that are likely to receive the money for these projects- in essence creating my own stimulus. With any luck, they'll look at my Amazon Wish List so I can get the Mont Blanc pen I've always wanted.

$400 for a pen = a waste of money.
$400 million for Trojans = a F*#&ing we can all believe in.

This commissarka in question supports the CDU because its particular brand of socialism includes incentives for small businesses rather than just for the downtrodden. In The Fatherland, you don't get to choose whether to have a socialist wirtshaft, but rather which group you want the handouts to go to. She functions as an overseas version of the Washington/CNN echo chamber in telling me "Maybe that's what your country needs- it's worked for us. Besides, people voted for Obama- they voted for CHANGE." She inspires me...

Comrades! I believe the Figureheadtm received a defective Flappietm. Because he leaked something very crucial to the Wall Street Journal! My network of Proletariat Pimps yielded this information:

Image
"We're not going to be able to fall back into the same old habits," Mr. Obama said. "The casual dishonesty of hiding irresponsible spending with clever accounting tricks, the costly overruns, the fraud and abuse, the endless excuses."
Comrades! This is exactly what the People's Poo Packer was doing when we assigned him to, er, "infiltrate" Fannie Mae in the late '90s! Our plans run the risk of being exposed!

Where is Vodkavich? We need to assemble a crack team of his thugs troops and replace the Figurehead's Flappie with a proven one!
Hmmmm...I hear some static coming over the Network...a snarky comment about talk about the Figurehead's second term. I don't know why this anonymous Comrade needed to be ashamed about such ambition. I mean, the Figurehead has been in office more than a month! We should be holding elections already!

I mean, if it was good enough for Hugo, surely it is good enough for the 5-year plan.
Some more insider information to ferret bring out this comrade so we can have a ShowTrialtm...we have plans to try to alter improve the Constitution and do away with the 2-consecutive-term limit. Our faithful Ministry of misInformation is cleverly playing it down that it is just another wingnut conspiracy theory.

There's a reason I stopped talking politics with these (insert word). I was 17 in history class no doubt. All in all, I realized it doesn't matter what you say, they will not take what you say and actually think about it.

I read your quotes about the (insert word) who commented on your post, and all I can say is, "Well duh! Of course they are going to respond that way."

I'm sorry if I'm talking down to you Comrade Red Jim, I'm very certian you are a man (correct me if I'm wrong) of sound mind who knows what is on the other side. So I will say this, liberals truly live in a cave of darkness with an audio system in it. Commissar, you are not talking down to me. I'm an old hand at dealing with this trash. When I have some spare time I like to toy with them, it's fun watching their blood pressure rise. I was a member of The Woodenboat Forum which in 2000 became infested with liberal activists, civility went out the window and I got tired of dealing with the "children" and quit it after 2004. The moderator was a lib and started discriminating. Prior to that it was fun to unravel lib arguments which were usually based on false premises or outright lies. Those two are an example of the dumber libs who cannot even offer a counterpoint, in fact the blogger himself doesn't offer much in the way of an argument he's just trolling. The Woodenboat forum appears to be down at the moment, but if you want to see some real lib venom visit "the Bilge" and get a look at some real comrades.

User avatar
I actually just might visit the site, especially if I need an excuse to not go to work (diarahea). I agree with you, they use intimidation, and their responses have little, if any, facts to them. Unfortunatly, you can't argue with them because they will just scream and whine and cry until you quit, much like 5-year old in Wal-Mart when you think about it.

User avatar
There was a time that the libs would actually debate the merits but that time is long past and it's mainly lib trolls.

I'm beginning to think he's ignoring it on purpose, crash the market and people look to government as the final solution.

You're just beginning to understand the plan after it was clearly spelled out in this post?! Perhaps you need a refresher at the K. Marx Renewal Spa, my personal favorite among the many KMTC global campuses.

I could use a refresher course, my evil Imperialist side is trying to reassert itself. Just this morning I was complaining about our government run ponzi scheme Social Securtiy.

Ah, yes. Socialist Security,™ developed by our beloved Uncle Frank.

The best part is that we can blame it ALL on Bu$Hitler! What we are seeing today is NOT the aftermath of what happens when banks are forced to make loans or be burnt at the stake as racists. It's not what happens when those same banks are reluctant to loan based on the fact that the government will nullify what they thought were legal, binding contracts. It's not because the people that fuel the markets are not the ones likely to be stimulated by the thought of government control of their practices, their pay, their taxes, or their persecution as class enemies. It's all because of Bush and his no-bid contracts and his tax cuts for the rich.

I'm taking my shoes off as I type, Comrades.
