Alexei Kudrin is certainly not afraid to say exactly what he thinks. The Russian finance minister raised a few eyebrows this week with his comments about the tax revenue benefits of certain popular indulgences.

“If you smoke a pack of cigarettes, that means you are giving more to help solve social problems such as boosting demographics, developing other social services and upholding birth rates,” Kudrin said, quoted by the Interfax news agency.

“People should understand: Those who drink, those who smoke are doing more to help the state,” he said, offering unconventional advice as the Russian government announced plans to raise excise duty on alcohol and cigarettes.

Pink 'Lenin'-Ade Recipe

Ingredients
2 oz. People's Vodka
1 oz. Triple Sec
2 oz. Pineapple Juice
2 oz. Cranberry Juice
Mixing Instruction
Combine all ingredients in shaker with ice and shake. Pour into a tumbler and garnish with a lemon wedge and a maraschino cherry. (May also be strained into a rocks glass after shaking to make a very large shooter.) (haha....shooter....that's funny....)

This is a "Freudian" slip from the Russian government. If you control the health care system, then you can save money by denying or delaying expensive treatments, thereby "inheriting" the paid-in capital of the dead workers.
