State Department Sides with Irate Muslims

Thank the mythological deity of your choice that the State Department still employs sensitive and politically correct progressives at high levels. According to a Reuters article...

Reuters wrote:The United States backed Muslims on Friday against European newspapers that printed caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad in a move that could help America's battered image in the world of Islam.

What an extraordinarily sensible and politic move! Everyone respects blatant pandering, don't they? Maybe Osama will offer another truce to show his gratitude. Perhaps the "insurgents" in Iraq will lay down their arms now. Maybe Hamas will change its views on Israel. This is empathic diplomacy at its finest!

Reuters wrote:"These cartoons are indeed offensive to the belief of Muslims," State Department spokesman Kurtis Cooper said in answer to a question.

"We all fully recognize and respect freedom of the press and expression but it must be coupled with press responsibility. Inciting religious or ethnic hatreds in this manner is not acceptable."

"Print, but don't offend!" Curious how these bureaucrats don't hold American papers to the same standard...

So, in essence, the State Dept is saying: if something offends a group of like-minded people, then it is acceptable for them to riot and threathen others with violence. Great message!

Neal Boortz, the nationally syndicated libertarian talkshow host, has some "intemperate" thoughts on the convenient selectiveness of Muslim outrage.

Neal Boortz wrote:OK ... let's do a little historical review. Just some lowlights:

  • Muslims fly commercial airliners into buildings in New York City. No Muslim outrage.
  • Muslim officials block the exit where school girls are trying to escape a burning building because their faces were exposed. No Muslim outrage.
  • Muslims cut off the heads of three teenaged girls on their way to school in Indonesia. A Christian school. No Muslim outrage.
  • Muslims murder teachers trying to teach Muslim children in Iraq. No Muslim outrage.
  • Muslims murder over 80 tourists with car bombs outside cafes and hotels in Egypt. No Muslim outrage.
  • A Muslim attacks a missionary children's school in India. Kills six. No Muslim outrage.
  • Muslims slaughter hundreds of children and teachers in Beslan, Russia. Muslims shoot children in the back. No Muslim outrage.
  • Let's go way back. Muslims kidnap and kill athletes at the Munich Summer Olympics. No Muslim outrage.
  • Muslims fire rocket-propelled grenades into schools full of children in Israel. No Muslim outrage.
  • Muslims murder more than 50 commuters in attacks on London subways and busses. Over 700 are injured. No Muslim outrage.
  • Muslims massacre dozens of innocents at a Passover Seder. No Muslim outrage.
  • Muslims murder innocent vacationers in Bali. No Muslim outrage.
  • Muslim newspapers publish anti-Semitic cartoons. No Muslim outrage
  • Muslims are involved, on one side or the other, in almost every one of the 125+ shooting wars around the world. No Muslim outrage.
  • Muslims beat the charred bodies of Western civilians with their shoes, then hang them from a bridge. No Muslim outrage.
  • Newspapers in Denmark and Norway publish cartoons depicting Mohammed. Muslims are outraged.
Dead children. Dead tourists. Dead teachers. Dead doctors and nurses. Death, destruction and mayhem around the world at the hands of Muslims .. no Muslim outrage ... but publish a cartoon depicting Mohammed with a bomb in his turban and all hell breaks loose.

Ahh, yes. Doctor, when was the last time we checked that brain of yours? It seems that you are starting to present symptoms of possible Republicanism in your works. I sure hope not, sir.

Neal Boortz and his little hate speech is an outrage and absolute outrage. The "cartoon" in Europe was clearly a horrendous and blantant act of free speech. The only free speech the progressive movement accepts is the kind that undermines the U.S military, the war on terror and the concept of errhmm "low taxes" eeeccck!.

Cartoon row: Danish embassy ablaze

Image DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) -- Hundreds of Syrian demonstrators stormed the Danish Embassy in Damascus Saturday and set fire to the building, witnesses said.

Back in more uncivilized days this would have been known as an act of war. Thank goodness we're beyond all that nonsense.

In fact, Sean McCormack's statement defended the despicable freedom of the press but the progressive media failed to report it correctly. This Rightwing Nuthouse blogger claims it happened due to the reporters' habitual laziness.

MORE LAZY REPORTING FROM THE MEDIA
https://rightwingnuthouse.com/archives/ ... the-media/

If that's the case heads must roll. When will they learn that laziness is accepted and encouraged only in proletarians but not when you are on the forefront of the revolution, engaging in advocacy journalism? We will not accept less than severing the heads of those responsible! (Those Gaza Strip clerics are really good at coining such phrases - something that AP and Reuters should learn from them!)

Well, at least the good folks at Reuters gave a distinguished, progressive member of the academy the opportunity to take a potshot at America's invidious foreign policy. Here's an excerpt from Page 2 of the aforementioned article:

Reuters wrote:But Stephen Zunes, a professor of politics at the University of San Francisco and a Bush administration critic, said the United States was responsible for creating far more anger in the Muslim world because of its invasion of Iraq.

"The United States is the last nation that should caution against unnecessarily inflaming sentiments in the Muslim world," he said.

You tell 'em, Dr. Zunes!

Zunes says, "The United States is the last nation that should caution against unnecessarily inflaming sentiments in the Muslim world," he said.

Yes, how dare us cause inflamation "unnecessarily". We should learn from Zunes' words of wisdom and stop scratching and itching due to inflamation. In medical terms this would be due to a much bigger problem that requires real medical attention.

Hey, how about a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammanbeans submerged in a glass of urine? I'd bet the Metropolitan Museum of Art would snatch that up in a minute and pay big taxpayer bucks for it.

I'll gladly supply the piss.

PP (no pun intended)

Dungarees
And we can't forget Chris Ofili's critically acclaimed "painting" of the Virgin Mary, whose figure was not only bespeckled with clumps of elephant dung, but also framed by close-ups of female genitalia that had been clipped from porn magazines. It was displayed in 1999, as part of a Brooklyn Museum of Art exhibit.

The "artisitic" desecration of The Madonna was a provocative move that greatly incensed many Christians, but I don't recall them rioting in the streets and attacking embassies over it.

Or maybe wearing a blanket made of freshly slaughtered pigskin?
