The Soviet Story - a must-see for all students of history

If you want to know the back story of the Ukrainian revolution, The Soviet Story tells exactly what happened to Ukraine during the Soviet era - and a lot more.
It's the best educational film on the nature of communism, which should be shown to all high school students in America to immunize them against the lure of the "great" utopia. However, I doubt most teachers will do so in today's political climate.
This 2008 documentary tells the story of the anti-human ideology the way I see it myself. That was rather surprising, because in today's "progressive" media climate, such views are an anathema.
We definitely need a climate change!
That the author of this film and I share the same views is not a coincidence. Edvīns Šnore is a fellow ex-Soviet - a Latvian director who did a great job documenting the evils of communism with the support of some of his European colleagues.
The Soviet Story starts with a question I also raised many times: while the swastika is universally recognized as a symbol of evil and hate, why does the hammer-and-sickle emblem, which is just as bad, get a free pass? The answer apparently lies in the fact that there has never been a version of the Nuremberg Trial for communism, which still has a lot of sympathizers in high places of power around the world, including the United States.
When this film came out, one of our Cubists posted a trailer and a link to the DVD. Today the full movie can be seen online on Amazon Prime and other video sites.

As for the difference between the swastika and the hammer-and-sickle, I agree with Oleg. In addition, Soviet spies had started infiltrating the U.S. government back in the 1920s. I remember (should have "artifact-ed" the webpage) finding a page (no longer on the website) of the Council on Foreign Relations where they had sent a major policy book to Stalin for his comments - and they were pleased to receive it back with his handwritten comments in a copy of the book - which they were "proud" to still have. Back in the 1920s, any version of socialism was very acceptable to the progressives. Recently declassified documents show certain infiltrators "encouraged" FDR in siding with the Chinese over the Japanese, then making policies that hurt Japanese efforts against China, to the extent that he knew they would eventually attack Pearl Harbor so that we could go to war against the Japanese.
After the war, many influenced Truman let the Russians take as much as he liked but to "punish" the Germans. Only people like Gen Patton didn't like that (then somehow died from an "accident" - the whole story there reeks of coverup) - guess Patton shouldn't have compared the later German politicians in 1945 (many were former Nazi's) to Democrats. Patton was also one who wanted to "continue" the push right to Moscow (I remember my history lessons as a former member of the 2nd Armored Division "Patton's Favorites"). No we couldn't do that because the Russians were our Allies (like Japan was - in WW 1). No, the infiltrators had made sure that Truman & Co. would not do such, and would continue on as if the USSR wasn't as bad as Nazi Germany - besides weren't the Nazi's responsible for the Katyn Forrest Massacre and tried to blame it on the Russians??? (turns out, the reverse was true -the Soviets massacred innocent Polish civilians and later blamed it on the Nazi's - until they acknowledged it in 1990). No Nuremberg trials for Russia. Too many progressives that would side with Stalin even to this day.
Sorry if I got off on a tangent - must have been because I just finished watching the full BBC version of "1984", "Animal Farm" and "Brave New World" (all 3+ hours of that last one). Well, way past this "John Savage" Mouse's bedtime (I'm a nocturnal mouse).

Thank you Comrade Square... I hope I can earn the necessary security clearance to finally view the video if this bednyak can find someone in my local raion who would give me a recommendation....
Sincerely,
Anon E. Mouse

I just replaced the original YouTube video above with a better version that has English subtitles. It's split into two parts, but that shouldn't be a problem. Ironically, these new videos were posted by a user on a Russian portal named Yandex, which is sort of a Russian-language version of Yahoo.I was able to get into YouTube last night without the Google errors so I downloaded it for later... I guess whomever in security must have lifted the block they had on me! Now to see if I can "copy" over this new version for "safe keeping."
Edit:
Guess not - seems this new version only comes in 1meg flash segments.... (YouTube, I was able to download the MP4 version).
Edit 2:
I just finished the above videos. Wow. I feel overwhelmed. All I can say is:
Dziękuję, towarzyszu, na tej najważniejszej lekcji.

I'm told this is available on the eMule P2P network but I wouldn't know if that were true or not.
