Yes Virgina, There is No Shovel

President Obama said that he is expecting Republicans to offer him more cooperation after November's elections, no matter the outcome.

In an hour-long interview with Times White House correspondent Peter Baker, Mr. Obama predicted that his political rivals will either be chastened by falling short of their electoral goals or burdened with the new responsibility that comes from achieving them.

“It may be that regardless of what happens after this election, they feel more responsible, either because they didn't do as well as they anticipated, and so the strategy of just saying no to everything and sitting on the sidelines and throwing bombs didn't work for them,” Mr. Obama said. “Or they did reasonably well, in which case the American people are going to be looking to them to offer serious proposals and work with me in a serious way.”

The president's comments are reported in an in-depth assessment of Mr. Obama's first two years in office, which appears in the Times Magazine this Sunday.
In the article, which is based on interviews with nearly two dozen of the president's advisers in addition to the president himself, Mr. Baker offers a series of inside details about Mr. Obama's time in the White House, including the following:

* According to his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, Mr. Obama is not particularly fond of the presidential retreat at Camp David. Mrs. Obama reports that her husband, a longtime resident of Chicago, is more at ease in an urban setting.

* Pete Rouse, Mr. Obama's new chief of staff, bet deputy chief of staff Jim Messina $400 that he would be gone from the White House by the end of this year. Mr. Messina predicted that Mr. Rouse would stay well beyond that date.

* Mr. Obama — unlike most of his senior staff — does not have an iPad. Asked why, he said: “Because I have an iReggie,” a reference to his personal aide, Reggie Love.

In the magazine article, Mr. Obama reflects on his presidency, admitting that he let himself look too much like “the same old tax-and-spend Democrat,” realized too late that “there's no such thing as shovel-ready projects” and perhaps should have “let the Republicans insist on the tax cuts” in the stimulus.

WE HAVE SHOVELS! WE HAVE SHOVELS!!

I can understand the dislikeness of Camp David (is that not a Jooish name??). It was well traveled and used by (spit) Ronald Reagan, was it not?! I think this glorious Leader would be at comfort in something more suitable to his needfulness. After all, he IS Barack Hussein Obama.

Dear Leader has not left us, comrades ! He is merely playing political trick on the reichwingers that will cast them to defeats in election ! He cannot be wrong..... remember the words of St. Oprah......... " He is the One ".

Prog Off

Actually, the Obama " Administration " is one of the most " shovel - ready " projects in American history !

The burial begins Nov. 2nd.

DAMN! I invested $1,000 in "shovel futures" on the Chicago commodities market. After the election I saw the value of my shares rise to nearly $2,000. Today, after Obama's statement the market in shovel futures collapsed. My investment is gone.

I wouldn't be surprised to discover that Obama's buddies and George Soros have been shorting shovel futures. Those bastards set me up and stole my money!

Yellen Yelena must be crushed by this news.

If Papa Bama continues to speak in these defeatist tones he may retire with full state honors to the island of unicorns and rainbows never to be heard from again.

Whoopie, perhaps I could interest you in some "shovel offsets." This is a wonderful new service that I am launching that lets you have lots of shovels that never get used, but by funneling contributions to union apparatchiks through my foundation, you will be able to pretend that those shovels never existed and did no harm to the Party's electoral prospects.

No thanks Betinov, I learned my lesson. No more risky investment schemes for me. Obama said he's still going to sneak through Cap-n-Trade legislation by breaking it up and passing it piecemeal so I'm gonna double down on my green energy investments and start shorting oil and natural gas futures. I'll be rich in no time, just you watch and see.

....... you, most alert Comrade,All this talk of personal gain caused me to regurgitate my beets and potatoes all over the keyboard. This talk of being rich, every comrade is rich with his just share in the collective and the words of Dear Leader.ButHow could any comrade aspire to anything greater than these?

Yah? In the last days of WW Two a lot of the high ranking Nazis thought that the Allies would turn to the Nazis to help govern Germany. The high ranking Nazis thought they were indispensable and the Allies would need them. What actually happened to them was the last thing they thought could happen to them.

Obama doesn't get that he is about to become the most irrelevant piece on the political chess board and his ass is grass.

Comrades, there is a new paradigm in the works here at the Collective which you will all be made aware of in due course. Sustainable capitalism to enrich the Party elite in the service of the Collective is good. Even as I speak un-named Party officials of the highest order are putting this plan into effect with the approval of the People's Director.

I urge you all to be loyal comrades and get on board when the time comes. Compliance will be mandatory and dissent will not be tolerated.

User avatar
INGSOC, I am very impressed with your authentic photo of dearest Leader and those original- owners- of- the- land- personages, but I am wondering if they are 'shovel ready projects' or are they missing their shovels?

I wish you had not mentioned me by name, but since you did, yes, I am enriching my endowments and other investments. (jealously can be so ugly)

I was promised the first post racial presidency, gitmo closing, free healthcare, bailouts, no more than 8% unemployment, transparency, and now, I'm told there really isn't a shovel?

What is the truth? Obama was supposed to be the one I was waiting for. I'm so disillusioned by this. I mean there were people standing by ready to get their very own shovel and proudly stand beside the public work projects with their right foot on the blade and their hands on the handle all the while earning the new minimum wage with benefits. What about the signs? Were they a lie too? The signs said this was a project paid for by the stimulus bill. Money from the People's Republic of China, Our Grand children were paying Our tax dollars paid for these projects. I'm so despondent now. I was ready to enlist. I'm rambling now I'm about to cry. I need a group collective hug now.

What is the truth? Etc, etc, etc. Crying and whining and whining and crying.

Obama would tell you that you gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette. The only thing is, as far as sociopaths like Obama are concerned, we, everybody - even you stupid damn commies, are nothing but eggs. And he's hungry.

User avatar
3 bowls of soup and I Am still hungry as well, I can NOT imagine his hunger in Obamanation!
Hail Lady Gaga 10% of the MOST POWERFUL WOMEN in The World.... SatanSatin sheets for him her!

Am I to believe there are no spades or hoes either?

User avatar
Groucho, the terms spades and hoes were deemed to be racist by the last Party Congress. Didn't you get the memo?

The politically correct versions are shovels and dirt trowels.

Picks and rakes are ok as is until such a time as some victim group uses those terms to describe themselves.
